Good morning.

Beyond receiving a paycheck a couple times each month, your employer probably offers you additional perks as well.

While it’s hard to top the feeling of exhilaration when you’re recognized as employee of the month or awarded a covered parking spot, a good 401(k) and HSA can supercharge your savings and help put your finances on Cloud 9.

Today’s recommended reads will help you learn how to make the most of your employee benefits so you’ll be ready to retire on time and feel confident about your financial future.

Friday Trivia: Cloud 9? We know it means a feeling of euphoria, but where did the term Cloud 9 come from, anyway?  👇

Why You Should Max Out Your HSA Before Putting More in Your 401(k)

For people with very low healthcare costs, putting the maximum into Health Savings Account (HSA) eligible healthcare plans is almost a no-brainer, especially in situations where their employer contributes to their account to help offset the deductible.

If you don’t spend that money, it’s yours to keep and rolls over year after year for when you do eventually need it, perhaps in retirement to help pay Medicare Part B or long-term care insurance premiums.

👉 Friday Trivia: Cloud 9? We know it means a feeling of euphoria, but where did the term Cloud 9 come from, anyway? In the 1896 edition of the International Cloud Atlas, clouds were assigned numerical orders. The cumulonimbus cloud was assigned the number 9. It is the highest reaching cloud and rises up to 10km into the sky. Thus, being on top of it would mean that you are in a sense “on top of the world.” Source: theidioms.com
