About Me

Ask anyone in her family, and they will tell you that Cathy Curtis was born with a brain for business. Her favorite game as a child was something she created called “Important Papers.” She would collect old bills and invoices that her dad was ready to discard and tell her siblings they were “playing business."

Cathy developed a fascination with the stock market and how companies worked and started investing her own money at a young age. This interest in investing led to a desire to build a career in personal finance. She soon discovered she enjoyed working with women clients who, like herself, wanted to be successful financially. She does this work from a place of passion, integrity, expertise, and a deep caring for her clients' well-being.

In addition to the business of financial planning, Cathy is an author, teacher, and podcaster - she pursues these endeavors to educate her clients and other women about the importance of planning, investing, and feeling financially empowered.

OUTSIDE THE OFFICE

Cathy has been an Assistant Adjunct Professor at Mills College in Oakland, California, teaching young women about personal finance. She stays current on personal finance topics through her affiliations with The National Association for Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP®). In addition, Cathy is a member of several peer mastermind groups whose purpose is to share best practices on running an advisory business, financial strategies, and working with clients.

For more than a decade, Cathy was an active volunteer and board member for The Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture (CUESA)(renamed “Foodwise” in 2022) based in San Francisco and program chair for The Commonwealth Club of San Francisco. Now, she promotes awareness of various community nonprofit organizations and small businesses through her podcast, Financial Finesse, by interviewing the smart, savvy women to advance their missions.

On weekends, you can find Cathy at the farmers market, meeting friends for breakfast and buying produce to create beautiful meals later in the day with her husband, Rob. She is an avid reader and always has a stack of books halfway to the ceiling beside her bed. She is somewhat of a fitness fanatic and loves Pilates and yoga, as well as working out with weights, hiking, cycling, and swimming. A former tennis player, Cathy just took up Pickleball and likes it so far.
