Hi, I'm Amy Irvine. As a kid, I always liked numbers. I would spend hours creating math problems and solutions. Whenever I wanted to play math teacher, my brother was forced to be my student! Given my love of facts, figures and helping people, it’s really no surprise that I have grown a career that combines all those components.
Money isn't just about numbers; it often carries a lot of emotion. I believe that you can use your dollars and cents to create and live a meaningful life unique to your own dreams and desires, but that is sometimes buried and requires some digging and fertilizing. In other words, if your roots are strong, your branches can sway with the storms.
I started Rooted Planning Group because I wanted to offer financial PLANNING services. Our profession has a tendency to focus on “assets under management,” and I wanted to focus on lives under care instead.
That is where the name Rooted Planning Group stems from. It is about planting the seeds, then nurturing the growth to make sure the roots are deep, the trunk is strong, and the branches are supported; all of which are part of your journey.
My journey as a business owner was not a direct path, it’s more of a long and winding road. Over the course of the past 30 years, I’ve worked in various financial services positions. But I’m most proud of the ensemble of women that I’ve brought together at Rooted Planning Group.
I am the author of "Uncork Your Finances" and podcast host of Money Roots (previously known as Wine and Dime), which were both created as a way to blend two of my passions together and take the "scary" out of finance.
I also co-founded the Southern Tier Women's Financial Conference in 2014, which is an annual event with a day of collaboration, networking, and financial education for women.
EDUCATION: I hold a Master’s Degree in Financial Planning, and the following designations: Certified Financial Planner®, Enrolled Agent, Certified College Financial Consultant, Master Planner Advance Studies®, Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® and Certified Financial Therapist - Level 1.
COMMUNITY: In addition to serving on several boards, I am honored to serve as a mentor to other women in the profession. I previously served on the National Board of the National Association of Personal Financial Planners (NAPFA) and currently serve as a Trustee on the NAPFA Foundation, in hopes of having professional influence on the number of women in the profession (or lack thereof). I also volunteer for two pro-bono financial planning organizations: Savvy Ladies | Advisers Give Back.
➡️ Am I the right planner for you?
Have you worked hard for what you've accumulated thus far? Have you given it the old college try and you just need to use a little more than muscle to get you to the next level? Are you a hard-working household that feels like you're doing all the right things, but watching those around you have more fun? Do you feel like you're caught up in the grind of life and wondering how your hard-earned income is going to help you achieve your "perfect life?" Do you want someone who will look beyond your numbers and understand you as a person and what you would like your life to look like? Do you want a financial planner that looks at the total financial picture and shows you how your investments are a tool to help you achieve your goals, but they are not THE plan? Are you seeking education and ready to make changes and implement the advice given to you by your financial coach?
✅ If you answered yes to most of these questions, then I "get" you and I tend to work well with you. A few examples of the types of jobs you might hold include attorneys, teachers, nurses, small business owners, and employees who work for Corning Inc.

To make Wealthtender free for readers, we earn a nominal monthly fee from financial advisors and firms in exchange for marketing services (including being featured on this profile page), subject to terms of use. This compensation creates a natural conflict of interest when we favor their promotion over others. Wealthtender is not a client of these advisors or firms. Testimonials may not be representative of other clients’ experiences and do not guarantee future performance or success.
Wealthtender exists to help people discover trusted and authentic financial professionals and educators who may be a good fit based on their unique needs and circumstances.
Your honest reviews help people decide which financial professionals and educators may be best suited to their individual needs.
The majority of people trust reviews as much as personal recommendations, so what you write in your review should reflect your own opinion and experience.
Tips for Writing a Helpful Review
Be descriptive. Instead of just saying what you like or dislike, share why. What have you enjoyed most or least about your experience with the provider? Have they helped you overcome a difficult financial challenge or strengthened your knowledge about particular money matters? The more details, the better!
Be honest. Your rating and review should reflect your actual experience.
Stay relevant. Ensure your review is helpful to others by avoiding off-topic discussions or personal opinions not relevant to your direct experience.
Make your review easy to read. Reviews should be readable to others. Use proper grammar, avoid excessive capitalization or punctuation, and be sure to check your spelling.
Be yourself. Don’t post as, or pretend to be, someone else, and do not say you’re associated with a person or organization with which you are not.
Be nice. Don’t write abusive, hateful, threatening, or harassing content. Avoid personal threats, hate speech, obscenities, or inflammatory language.
Respect the privacy of others. Don’t post information that can be used to identify another individual or compromise their privacy.
Report abuse. Thank you for helping us ensure reviews on Wealthtender are helpful to everyone.
