After researching the various financial planners that are available in the Richmond area, along with their approach to providing financial services to their clients, my wife and I decided to work with a fee-only, fiduciary, financial planner. The fact that our financial planner would be a fiduciary (i.e. committed and bound to always providing advice that is in our best interest) coupled with the fact that we would know exactly how much that service was costing us (monthly, quarterly and annually), was very important to us. We talked with two fee-only firms and ultimately selected Summit Financial Partners. That was six years ago, and we could not be happier with our decision. Jennifer and Mike not only have the education and experience in the financial services field to advocate for and advise their clients, they also keep up with changes in the industry through continuing education and then endeavor to inform their clients of new or changing issues through e-mails, one on one client meetings and/or self-produced videos. Additionally, they invest the time necessary to fully understand their client’s current situation as well as their goals for the future and all the minutia in between, so that they can put together a practical, logical, and most importantly, successful, financial plan. My wife and I have transitioned to the retirement phase of our plan and because of the detailed planning and advice we received from Summit, we are thoroughly enjoying every day and as we look to the future, that same ongoing planning and advice gives us peace of mind.
