About Justin Pritchard, CFP®
Hi, I’m Justin Pritchard, CFP® with Approach Financial, Inc. in Montrose, Colorado. I’ve been helping people manage their finances for over 15 years, and my goal is to help you get things done and get on with the more important things in life. Whether you prefer to spend time with loved ones, get outdoors, or do anything else, completing those necessary financial tasks makes it easier. You've got potential changes on the horizon? Let's make a plan so you can gain clarity and confidence as you move toward the next chapter.
My primary focus is retirement planning. As you move toward the next chapter in life, you may want to explore how things might unfold and make sure you're doing the right things.
▪️ Do you have enough to retire, or are you on track for a comfortable retirement?
▪️ How much can you spend each month or year?
▪️ What taxes will you owe in retirement?
▪️ Will health care spending be an issue?
▪️ Are you investing in a way that makes sense for your long-term goals?
We can talk about all that and more. I work under a variety of models, including flat-fee and project engagements. But if you want me to manage assets for you, that's an option.
I’ve also worked with numerous workplace retirement plans (such as 401k plans), so I can handle plan operations as well as help employees—the people who save in those plans—make sense of their finances and work toward their goals. For retirement plans, small businesses and self-employed entrepreneurs are my sweet spot. I provide everything from plan consulting and setup to ongoing service, participant education, and financial wellness.
I earned an MBA and MSIS from the University of Colorado in 2003 and became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional in 2010. I’ve written about personal finance, loans, insurance, retirement, and more, and I enjoy staying up to date on new developments.

About Approach Financial, Inc
Approach Financial Planning is an independent financial planning practice in Montrose, CO. I meet with people throughout the U.S. via phone or secure video meetings. Regardless of your location, we can probably work together.Get clarity on your finances. Figure out when you can retire, what you're on track for, how much you can spend, when to take Social Security, how to invest your retirement nest egg, and more.
Whether we do detailed planning or you just want to ask some questions, you'll be better informed.
We generally take stock of your resources like Social Security or pension income, plus any assets earmarked for retirement. Then, we review your projected spending, including potential changes to spending over time. All the while, we keep taxes, investment returns, inflation, and other factors top-of-mind. And we can run various what-if scenarios to take an optimistic or pessimistic view—or just explore possibilities.
How do we work together?
It's your choice: Do it yourself, or have me handle your investments—you are not required to transfer assets or invest any minimum amount.
Options include one-time project work or ongoing asset management (with a flat-fee that prevents you from paying infinite costs). You can choose a model that meets your needs and feels right for you. Get a second set of eyes, ask a few questions online, get a quick investment review, or go with an ongoing relationship.
With that information, you can make informed decisions.
▪️ Can you retire early?
▪️ How much can you spend after taxes?
▪️ Does it make sense to pursue strategies like Roth IRA conversions (to avoid IRMAA surcharges and manage taxes)?
▪️ Are annuities worth looking at, and should you keep the products somebody else sold you?
When it comes to investing, I favor a simple approach. Portfolios and recommendations are primarily index-based, consisting of mutual funds or ETFs. I do not receive any commissions for selling products, and I'm not a fan of active trading or picking individual stocks.
Let's get things figured out so you can move on to more important things in life. Whether you prefer to spend time with loved ones, get outdoors, or enjoy other pursuits, completing those necessary financial tasks makes it easier.

We Want Your Voice to be Heard
Wealthtender exists to help people discover trusted and authentic financial professionals and educators who may be a good fit based on their unique needs and circumstances.
Your honest reviews help people decide which financial professionals and educators may be best suited to their individual needs.
The majority of people trust reviews as much as personal recommendations, so what you write in your review should reflect your own opinion and experience.
Tips for Writing a Helpful Review
Be descriptive. Instead of just saying what you like or dislike, share why. What have you enjoyed most or least about your experience with the provider? Have they helped you overcome a difficult financial challenge or strengthened your knowledge about particular money matters? The more details, the better!
Be honest. Your rating and review should reflect your actual experience.
Stay relevant. Ensure your review is helpful to others by avoiding off-topic discussions or personal opinions not relevant to your direct experience.
Make your review easy to read. Reviews should be readable to others. Use proper grammar, avoid excessive capitalization or punctuation, and be sure to check your spelling.
Be yourself. Don’t post as, or pretend to be, someone else, and do not say you’re associated with a person or organization with which you are not.
Be nice. Don’t write abusive, hateful, threatening, or harassing content. Avoid personal threats, hate speech, obscenities, or inflammatory language.
Respect the privacy of others. Don’t post information that can be used to identify another individual or compromise their privacy.
Report abuse. Thank you for helping us ensure reviews on Wealthtender are helpful to everyone. If you suspect possible violations of our guidelines or believe a review is inappropriate, please email support@wealthtender.com with a link to the provider’s profile, indicating the review in question and the reason you believe it violates our guidelines.
