About Lamont Brown, CFP®, EA
I spent 15 years as an active-duty United States Marine Officer (USMC) before becoming a DoD contractor—and then a financial planner specializing in federal retirement. That path taught me: what it's like to step out of federal service and into financial independence.
I know what it's like to have structure, predictability, and a mission-focused career. And I know what happens when that structure disappears and you're responsible for coordinating pension timing, TSP withdrawals, FEHB elections, Social Security, and taxes—with no manual and no room for error.
Why I Chose to Serve Federal Employees:
When I became a financial planner, I worked with executives, business owners, and families at different stages of wealth. Over time, I saw that federal employees face a unique challenge—a fragmented advisory landscape where critical retirement decisions aren’t coordinated.
I watched smart, accomplished people making irreversible decisions without guidance. People who'd spent 30 years serving the public, now trying to piece together retirement from checklists and product pitches.
That didn't sit right with me.
So I built ALNA Wealth Management to serve federal employees preparing for retirement. Not because it's easier—because you deserve someone who understands both the career you've built and the retirement you've earned.
WHAT I DO:
I help federal employees within 5 years of retirement (or recently retired) build comprehensive strategies that coordinate:
1. FERS pension and Survivor Benefit Plan elections that can't be undone
2. TSP withdrawal strategies that seek to minimize lifetime taxes and avoid IRMAA
3. FEHB and Medicare integration
4. Social Security timing
5. Investment portfolios beyond the five TSP funds
6. Risk management and legacy planning for your spouse
MY CREDENTIALS:
CFP® (Certified Financial Planner™) | Enrolled Agent (IRS Tax Specialist) | AIF® (Accredited Investment Fiduciary) | MBA + Systems Engineering | Formerly Active USMC Officer (15 years)
WHY WORK WITH ME:
Because I've been where you are. I understand the federal system you're leaving, the transition you're making, and the decisions that can't be reversed.
You need someone who's lived both sides of this transition.
If you're preparing for retirement and want guidance from someone who's navigated this path themselves, let's connect.

About ALNA Wealth Management
ALNA Wealth Management helps federal employees nearing retirement make informed, tax-aware retirement decisions with confidence.Federal retirement comes with a lot of moving parts. Your FERS pension, TSP, FEHB and Medicare, Social Security, investments, and taxes all affect each other. Many of these decisions are hard to change once they’re made, and advice is often fragmented—handled by different professionals who aren’t coordinating the full picture.
ALNA Wealth Management was built around a more connected approach, with taxes as a central part of the planning process.
How We Help
Our planning focuses on four key areas that support a well-planned federal retirement:
Federal Benefit Election Decisions

Income and Tax Planning
Coordinating retirement income, TSP withdrawals, Social Security timing, and tax strategy so you understand how today’s decisions may affect taxes over time.
Investment Alignment for Retirement
Aligning your investment strategy with your income needs, risk tolerance, and tax considerations as you transition from saving to spending.
Risk and Legacy Planning
Helping coordinate insurance, beneficiary designations, and estate planning considerations to help protect your spouse and support long-term goals, in collaboration with your other professionals.
We’re committed to acting in your best interest. Our role is to help you understand your options, connect the dots, and move forward with a plan that fits the retirement you’ve earned.

Tips for Writing a Helpful Review
Be descriptive. Instead of just saying what you like or dislike, share why. What have you enjoyed most or least about your experience with the provider? Have they helped you overcome a difficult financial challenge or strengthened your knowledge about particular money matters? The more details, the better!
Be honest. Your rating and review should reflect your actual experience.
Stay relevant. Ensure your review is helpful to others by avoiding off-topic discussions or personal opinions not relevant to your direct experience.
Make your review easy to read. Reviews should be readable to others. Use proper grammar, avoid excessive capitalization or punctuation, and be sure to check your spelling.
Be yourself. Don’t post as, or pretend to be, someone else, and do not say you’re associated with a person or organization with which you are not.
Be nice. Don’t write abusive, hateful, threatening, or harassing content. Avoid personal threats, hate speech, obscenities, or inflammatory language.
Respect the privacy of others. Don’t post information that can be used to identify another individual or compromise their privacy.
Report abuse. Thank you for helping us ensure reviews on Wealthtender are helpful to everyone.
