About Leighann Miko, CFP®
Hi, I'm Leighann Miko, founder of Equalis Financial. I believe financial guidance should be equally accessible to all, yet this isn’t always the case in the financial planning world. I’m here to change that.Like my company name suggests, I founded Equalis Financial to serve non-traditional decision-makers, including women leaders, LGBTQ+ folks, and other thoughtfully ambitious changemakers.
There are many reasons why people become certified financial planners, but mine was to help others create the financially secure life I never thought I’d have.
Raised by a strong single mom, I grew up in a volatile financial environment. I never knew when the utilities would be shut off or if our car would start or even be there in the morning. I still remember traveling thirty miles to use our food stamps at a grocery store where no one knew us.
Maybe you can relate with your own experiences of financial uncertainty. I know what it’s like to be underestimated and under-resourced. But with the right guidance, financial stability is possible and within reach.
When it comes to finances, I am a woman with a plan. And my plan is to help you with yours.
6 Fun Facts About Me
1️⃣ Road trips are my jam. My longest was a 12-day, 3,000 mile trip from Los Angeles to Vancouver, BC and back.
2️⃣ As a kid, I was a "background actor" on Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman for two seasons.
3️⃣ Finances aren't the only thing I plan. I can throw a mean party!
4️⃣ If i had a second career, I would be a home renovation consultant.
5️⃣ There are few things I love more than pizza and midcentury design.
6️⃣ I have a cat named Queso and a rescue pup named Olive.

What Sets Us Apart
▪️ Fiduciary
We are proud to be an independent financial planning firm, meaning that it is our fiduciary duty to do what’s best for you. This requires us to always put your interests ahead of our own.
▪️ Impartial
Everyone deserves access to financial advice regardless of their sexual orientation, gender, or marital status. Equality isn’t just in our name but is our founding principle.
▪️ Fee-Only
This means we do not sell any investment products, represent any product or company, and do not receive any commissions. We work strictly for you and are paid only by you.
▪️ Technology
We are location independent, meaning we use web-based technology that allows us to work as a virtual advisor and assist you no matter your physical location. We’re here to help you anytime, anywhere.
▪️ Our Identity
Equalis was founded by a member of the LGBTQ+ community who is all too familiar with volatile financial environments. Your needs will be attended to with compassion and without judgement.
▪️ Advocacy
We are a voice for our clients and community. Our mission is to ensure every action we take and every dollar we spend positively impacts as many people as possible.
We believe in Human-Centered Financial Planning
Other planners address your finances first, but that’s not how we do things. Instead, we devote time to understand your vision before advising on your finances. It’s time for the financial planning process to focus more on you than your money.

Wealthtender® is a trusted, independent financial directory and educational resource governed by our strict Editorial Policy, Integrity Standards, and Terms of Use. We Want Your Voice to be Heard
Wealthtender exists to help people discover trusted and authentic financial professionals and educators who may be a good fit based on their unique needs and circumstances.
Your honest reviews help people decide which financial professionals and educators may be best suited to their individual needs.
The majority of people trust reviews as much as personal recommendations, so what you write in your review should reflect your own opinion and experience.
Tips for Writing a Helpful Review
Be descriptive. Instead of just saying what you like or dislike, share why. What have you enjoyed most or least about your experience with the provider? Have they helped you overcome a difficult financial challenge or strengthened your knowledge about particular money matters? The more details, the better!
Be honest. Your rating and review should reflect your actual experience.
Stay relevant. Ensure your review is helpful to others by avoiding off-topic discussions or personal opinions not relevant to your direct experience.
Make your review easy to read. Reviews should be readable to others. Use proper grammar, avoid excessive capitalization or punctuation, and be sure to check your spelling.
Be yourself. Don’t post as, or pretend to be, someone else, and do not say you’re associated with a person or organization with which you are not.
Be nice. Don’t write abusive, hateful, threatening, or harassing content. Avoid personal threats, hate speech, obscenities, or inflammatory language.
Respect the privacy of others. Don’t post information that can be used to identify another individual or compromise their privacy.
Report abuse. Thank you for helping us ensure reviews on Wealthtender are helpful to everyone. If you suspect possible violations of our guidelines or believe a review is inappropriate, please email support@wealthtender.com with a link to the provider’s profile, indicating the review in question and the reason you believe it violates our guidelines.
