About Paulo Lopes, CFP®, JD
Hi, I’m Paulo Lopes. Before becoming a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, I spent years working as an attorney, often focused on improving transparency and accountability, including in areas that affected financial markets. I found the work meaningful, but it was too far removed from helping individuals directly. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been the person friends and family turned to for financial guidance, whether that meant talking through how to invest, make sense of a retirement plan, or understand what a parent’s will or trust actually meant. I helped translate legal and financial jargon into something clear and actionable. That unofficial role gave me a front-row seat to the kinds of questions people really have and the peace of mind they are looking for.
While working as an attorney, I discovered how confusing and costly our company’s retirement plan was. I cared deeply about fixing it, and after raising concerns, I was asked to join the retirement plan committee. I pushed for a simpler, lower-cost investment lineup that reflected how I personally invest: low fees, broad diversification, and no unnecessary complexity. The changes we made improved outcomes for hundreds of employees, and that experience reinforced how powerful thoughtful, client-focused planning can be for the people making decisions today and for the families those decisions affect.
So I took the next step. After completing financial planning coursework and passing industry exams, I founded Woodmont Financial Partners to bring that same level of care, clarity, and practical advice to the people I serve.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, biking, playing the piano, baking sourdough bread, and spending time with my family.

Woodmont Financial Partners operates a bit differently from what many people expect in the financial industry. It is structured more like a law firm: you simply pay for advice. We are an independent, fee-only Registered Investment Advisor that provides advice on an hourly and flat-fee basis and always acts as a fiduciary, which means your interests come first.I work with clients on retirement planning, investment advice, tax planning, estate planning, equity compensation, and other important financial decisions. Although we do not provide investment management, many clients come to us specifically for investment guidance, stock options and RSU planning, and a second opinion on their portfolio. I do not sell products or earn commissions, just thoughtful, personalized advice designed around your goals and best interests. Comprehensive financial planning engagements are typically priced between $5,000 and $15,000, depending on scope and complexity. Hourly financial planning is also available at $375 per hour for targeted questions or ongoing support.
Who We Serve
▪️ DIY Investors Seeking Expert Advice
▪️ Professionals with Stock Options, RSUs, or Other Equity Compensation
▪️ Families & Couples Facing Major Financial Decisions
▪️ People Navigating Life Transitions, Such as Career Changes, Inheritance, or Retirement
Today, I work with people who may not be ready to retire yet, but want to know they could, or that they are clearly on the path to getting there. They often like their work, but value flexibility, freedom, and the option to walk away from a job that is no longer a good fit. I help them build smart, tax-efficient strategies and make confident decisions about retirement, investing, estate planning, and equity compensation, without unnecessary complexity or confusion.
If that sounds like what you’ve been looking for, let’s talk.

We Want Your Voice to be Heard
Wealthtender exists to help people discover trusted and authentic financial professionals and educators who may be a good fit based on their unique needs and circumstances.
Your honest reviews help people decide which financial professionals and educators may be best suited to their individual needs.
The majority of people trust reviews as much as personal recommendations, so what you write in your review should reflect your own opinion and experience.
Tips for Writing a Helpful Review
Be descriptive. Instead of just saying what you like or dislike, share why. What have you enjoyed most or least about your experience with the provider? Have they helped you overcome a difficult financial challenge or strengthened your knowledge about particular money matters? The more details, the better!
Be honest. Your rating and review should reflect your actual experience.
Stay relevant. Ensure your review is helpful to others by avoiding off-topic discussions or personal opinions not relevant to your direct experience.
Make your review easy to read. Reviews should be readable to others. Use proper grammar, avoid excessive capitalization or punctuation, and be sure to check your spelling.
Be yourself. Don’t post as, or pretend to be, someone else, and do not say you’re associated with a person or organization with which you are not.
Be nice. Don’t write abusive, hateful, threatening, or harassing content. Avoid personal threats, hate speech, obscenities, or inflammatory language.
Respect the privacy of others. Don’t post information that can be used to identify another individual or compromise their privacy.
Report abuse. Thank you for helping us ensure reviews on Wealthtender are helpful to everyone. If you suspect possible violations of our guidelines or believe a review is inappropriate, please email support@wealthtender.com with a link to the provider’s profile, indicating the review in question and the reason you believe it violates our guidelines.
