About Spenser Liszt, CFP®
Hi, I’m Spenser Liszt, CFP®, founder of Motif Planning, a flat fee financial planning and investment management firm based in Dallas, Texas.I help dual-income families in their 30s and 40s who are doing well financially manage the growing complexity that comes with higher income and wealth.
Most of my clients earn $350k+ while raising young kids and managing demanding careers. They have growing investment portfolios, bonuses, RSUs, stock options, deferred compensation, or other executive benefits.
You may be asking:
* Are we making the most of what we’ve built?
* What should we do with RSUs, stock options, or company stock?
* Are we paying more in taxes than we need to?
* Are our investments coordinated with our financial plan?
* How much should we save for college while still enjoying life today?
* Can one of us step back from work someday?
* What can we delegate so we have less to manage ourselves?
I help bring those decisions together across your investments, taxes, equity compensation, employee benefits, cash flow, insurance, college planning, retirement, and estate planning.
You get another set of eyes looking for opportunities, someone to call before a major financial decision, and fewer financial tasks competing for your attention.
My goal is to help you feel confident the details are handled thoughtfully, so you can spend less time researching, monitoring, and second guessing financial decisions and more time with your family and the people you care about.
Before becoming a financial planner, I spent 17 years as a professional musician performing with artists including Aretha Franklin, Frankie Valli, The Temptations, Korn, and Father John Misty. I later earned my CFP® certification through Southern Methodist University and founded Motif Planning.
When I’m not working with clients, I’m spending time with my family, woodworking, or playing piano for my son.
Be sure to check our ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ reviews on Wealthtender to hear directly from clients about what it’s like to work together.
If you recognize your family in this profile, schedule a 15-minute discovery call. We’ll talk through what prompted you to reach out, what you want help with, and see if Motif Planning is a good fit.

About Motif Planning
You’ve built a strong financial foundation. We help you make smarter decisions about taxes, equity comp, and your family’s future while managing your investments for one flat fee.Motif Planning is a good fit if:
- Your household earns $350k+
- You’ve accumulated investments but want more coordination and oversight
- You have young kids or plan to start a family
- You receive bonuses, RSUs, stock options, deferred comp, or other executive benefits
- You want ongoing financial planning and investment management without paying a percentage of your portfolio
- You want one advisor looking across taxes, investments, benefits, insurance, estate planning, and family goals
These are the questions that usually come up when income grows, kids arrive, benefits get more complex, and the stakes feel higher.
“We’re doing well financially. Are we making the most of it?”
“Why was our tax bill so high last year?”
“Should we sell RSUs as they vest or hold them?”
“Are our investments coordinated with the rest of our financial plan?”
“Are we using our 401(k), HSA, backdoor Roth IRA, and benefits the right way?”
“How much should we save for college without overdoing it?”
“Do we have enough insurance if something happens to one of us?”
“Can one of us step back from work someday?”
“How do we turn what we’re earning today into more options for our family later?”
You’ve probably already made a lot of good financial decisions.
As your income, investments, family, and career grow, those decisions become more connected. Taxes affect investments. Equity comp affects cash flow. College savings compete with other goals. And every decision creates another thing to monitor.
You need a financial plan that brings everything together.
Automate your cash flow
Defend your family with the right insurance

We Want Your Voice to be Heard
Wealthtender exists to help people discover trusted and authentic financial professionals and educators who may be a good fit based on their unique needs and circumstances.
Your honest reviews help people decide which financial professionals and educators may be best suited to their individual needs.
The majority of people trust reviews as much as personal recommendations, so what you write in your review should reflect your own opinion and experience.
Tips for Writing a Helpful Review
Be descriptive. Instead of just saying what you like or dislike, share why. What have you enjoyed most or least about your experience with the provider? Have they helped you overcome a difficult financial challenge or strengthened your knowledge about particular money matters? The more details, the better!
Be honest. Your rating and review should reflect your actual experience.
Stay relevant. Ensure your review is helpful to others by avoiding off-topic discussions or personal opinions not relevant to your direct experience.
Make your review easy to read. Reviews should be readable to others. Use proper grammar, avoid excessive capitalization or punctuation, and be sure to check your spelling.
Be yourself. Don’t post as, or pretend to be, someone else, and do not say you’re associated with a person or organization with which you are not.
Be nice. Don’t write abusive, hateful, threatening, or harassing content. Avoid personal threats, hate speech, obscenities, or inflammatory language.
Respect the privacy of others. Don’t post information that can be used to identify another individual or compromise their privacy.
Report abuse. Thank you for helping us ensure reviews on Wealthtender are helpful to everyone. If you suspect possible violations of our guidelines or believe a review is inappropriate, please email support@wealthtender.com with a link to the provider’s profile, indicating the review in question and the reason you believe it violates our guidelines.
