About Thao Truong, CFP®, CDFA®
Hi, I’m Thao Truong. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst™, I bring over a decade of experience in wealth management. My journey began when I moved to the U.S. alone at 16, from Saigon, Vietnam, quickly becoming financially independent and supporting my family from half the world away. Initially, I pursued a finance degree with the goal of achieving millionaire status by 20. However, I learned invaluable lessons:
Stock-picking and chasing unrealistic returns caused me more damages and stress than any good.
There's a crucial distinction between earning money and strategically growing it, and true success and wealth are deeply personal and cannot be chased solely through financial means.
True wealth is about more than money. It starts from within. It’s about embracing the experiences life throws at us—both good and bad—and taking actions to turn them into growth opportunities.
This realization fuels my passion for guiding first-generation wealth builders, content creators, and women navigating life transitions to build secure, intentional financial futures and achieve the life you envision
You work hard to get to where you are. I believe that your money should be empowering, not overwhelming you. Too often, people feel stressed, ashamed, or uncertain when it comes to money. But it doesn’t have to be that way. With the right mindset and knowledge, you can take control of your financial future, support your loved ones, and achieve the life you envision.
Whether you’re starting from scratch or managing through life’s ups and downs, my goal is to provide you with practical, actionable insights to help you on your financial journey.
I invite you to join me on this journey toward real wealth.
Together, we can transform how you think about money and help you build wealth in a way that aligns with your goals and values.
On a Personal Note
Beyond work, I love learning, podcasts, crafting, nature, and staying active with boxing, cycling, hiking, tennis, yoga and playing with my kitties. I’m fluent in Vietnamese, learning Mandarin, and know some French—because connecting across cultures matters to me.

How we light your path
✔️ First Gen Wealth Builders
Building a new life far from home takes incredible strength. You've not only navigated a new country but built wealth from the ground up, all while honoring your heritage and supporting your family.
We understand the journey—the cultural adjustments, the language hurdles, and the deep desire to provide for those you love.
We're here to ease the financial stress, help you honor your roots, and secure a bright future for yourself and your family, with understanding and respect for your unique path.
✔️ Content Creators
Earning 7 figures, but still feeling financially tangled and over paying taxes? Let’s team up to craft your solid money game plan. We'll team up with your tax advisor to sort out taxes, grow your wealth, and ensure you’re living the freedom your hard work deserves.
It’s hard to be creative when you also have the anxiety of fluctuating income and the fear of your money not lasting long. It's also frustrating when others might be taking advantage of your financial success.
We get it! We’ll craft a step-by-step roadmap to help you gain control and confidence over your financial future.
✔️ Women in Transitions
Experiencing the emotional and financial upheaval of divorce or loss can be incredibly daunting. We provide the compassionate support and expert guidance needed to navigate this transition.
Our goal is to help you regain financial control, understand your options, and make informed decisions that secure your future.
We're here to empower you to confidently rebuild, prioritize your needs, and embrace your next chapter with renewed hope and stability.
We always put your best interests first.
We are fiduciary fee-only advisers. We operate without selling products or earning commissions on recommendations. Think of us as your dedicated advisor – akin to a personal trainer, doctor, chef, or stylist – focused solely on your well-being. We prioritize understanding your individual needs, preferences, past experiences, and any sensitivities to ensure we find the perfect solutions for you in the market.

Wealthtender® is a trusted, independent financial directory and educational resource governed by our strict Editorial Policy, Integrity Standards, and Terms of Use. While we receive compensation from featured professionals (a natural conflict of interest), we always operate with integrity and transparency to earn your trust. We Want Your Voice to be Heard
Wealthtender exists to help people discover trusted and authentic financial professionals and educators who may be a good fit based on their unique needs and circumstances.
Your honest reviews help people decide which financial professionals and educators may be best suited to their individual needs.
The majority of people trust reviews as much as personal recommendations, so what you write in your review should reflect your own opinion and experience.
Tips for Writing a Helpful Review
Be descriptive. Instead of just saying what you like or dislike, share why. What have you enjoyed most or least about your experience with the provider? Have they helped you overcome a difficult financial challenge or strengthened your knowledge about particular money matters? The more details, the better!
Be honest. Your rating and review should reflect your actual experience.
Stay relevant. Ensure your review is helpful to others by avoiding off-topic discussions or personal opinions not relevant to your direct experience.
Make your review easy to read. Reviews should be readable to others. Use proper grammar, avoid excessive capitalization or punctuation, and be sure to check your spelling.
Be yourself. Don’t post as, or pretend to be, someone else, and do not say you’re associated with a person or organization with which you are not.
Be nice. Don’t write abusive, hateful, threatening, or harassing content. Avoid personal threats, hate speech, obscenities, or inflammatory language.
Respect the privacy of others. Don’t post information that can be used to identify another individual or compromise their privacy.
Report abuse. Thank you for helping us ensure reviews on Wealthtender are helpful to everyone. If you suspect possible violations of our guidelines or believe a review is inappropriate, please email support@wealthtender.com with a link to the provider’s profile, indicating the review in question and the reason you believe it violates our guidelines.
