About Brian K. Peterson, CFP®, CPWA®, MBA
I’m Brian Peterson, founder of Blended Family Financial and known as The Financial Planner for Blended Families™.I specialize in helping blended family couples navigate the financial complexity that often comes with remarriage, stepfamily life, and building a future together mid-story.
After experiencing divorce, single parenthood, and remarriage personally, I came to realize something important: in blended families, money is rarely just about money. Conversations around fairness, responsibility, trust, children, legacy, and merging lives often carry emotional weight that traditional financial planning doesn’t fully address. That realization changed how I approach planning.
Rather than starting with spreadsheets or investment products, I help couples first build clarity around what matters most to them individually and together. Because when a couple has a shared vision for their life, the financial decisions that follow tend to feel more aligned, intentional, and sustainable.
I’m the author of Blended Family Finances: How to Talk About Money, Plan for the Future, and Build a Life You Love, a book created to help blended family couples have healthier, more meaningful conversations about money and long-term planning.
Professionally, I’ve spent more than 15 years helping clients make thoughtful financial decisions around retirement, investments, tax planning, estate considerations, and life transitions. I hold the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification and the Certified Private Wealth Advisor® designation.
But the work I care most about is helping couples reduce financial stress, communicate more openly, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence together.
Today, my wife Cara and I live in Minnesota with our blended family, and many of the conversations I guide clients through are conversations we’ve had ourselves.

About Blended Family Financial
Blended Family Financial was created specifically to serve the unique needs of blended family couples.Traditional financial planning often focuses heavily on numbers, products, and investment performance. While those things matter, blended families frequently face additional layers of complexity — including questions around fairness, merging finances, supporting children from previous relationships, estate planning, retirement priorities, and navigating different money experiences and expectations.
Our planning process is designed to help couples work through those conversations thoughtfully and intentionally.
We believe financial planning should support your life — not define it. That’s why we begin by helping couples create a Unified Vision: a shared understanding of what matters most, where they want life to go, and how money can support the future they’re building together.
From there, we help clients navigate the practical side of planning, including retirement planning, investment management, tax planning, risk management, and legacy planning.
Our Planning Built For Life® process is ongoing and relationship-centered, helping couples adapt and make thoughtful decisions as life changes over time.
Blended Family Financial is a trade name of Endurance Financial Group, a registered investment adviser based in Minnesota.

Wealthtender® is a trusted, independent financial directory and educational resource governed by our strict Editorial Policy, Integrity Standards, and Terms of Use. We Want Your Voice to be Heard
Wealthtender exists to help people discover trusted and authentic financial professionals and educators who may be a good fit based on their unique needs and circumstances.
Your honest reviews help people decide which financial professionals and educators may be best suited to their individual needs.
The majority of people trust reviews as much as personal recommendations, so what you write in your review should reflect your own opinion and experience.
Tips for Writing a Helpful Review
Be descriptive. Instead of just saying what you like or dislike, share why. What have you enjoyed most or least about your experience with the provider? Have they helped you overcome a difficult financial challenge or strengthened your knowledge about particular money matters? The more details, the better!
Be honest. Your rating and review should reflect your actual experience.
Stay relevant. Ensure your review is helpful to others by avoiding off-topic discussions or personal opinions not relevant to your direct experience.
Make your review easy to read. Reviews should be readable to others. Use proper grammar, avoid excessive capitalization or punctuation, and be sure to check your spelling.
Be yourself. Don’t post as, or pretend to be, someone else, and do not say you’re associated with a person or organization with which you are not.
Be nice. Don’t write abusive, hateful, threatening, or harassing content. Avoid personal threats, hate speech, obscenities, or inflammatory language.
Respect the privacy of others. Don’t post information that can be used to identify another individual or compromise their privacy.
Report abuse. Thank you for helping us ensure reviews on Wealthtender are helpful to everyone. If you suspect possible violations of our guidelines or believe a review is inappropriate, please email support@wealthtender.com with a link to the provider’s profile, indicating the review in question and the reason you believe it violates our guidelines.
