About Chris Cardinal
Hi, I'm Chris Cardinal, an investment adviser and founder of Cardinal Wealth Management. Most financial advisors want to manage the wealth you've already built. I'd rather help you build it.I launched Cardinal Wealth Management LLC because I believe wealth-builders (professionals, growing families, and small business owners) deserve the same quality financial guidance that wealthy people take for granted.
I am a fee-only, fiduciary financial planner dedicated to helping people in their late 20s, 30s, and 40s stop wondering where their money goes and start building something real. With me, you won't find someone chasing commissions or a robot rebalancing your account. You get a real person who genuinely wants to see you win.
My background isn’t traditional finance, which gives me a unique perspective. I graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Social Science and spent years working in the public sector as a substance abuse counselor in Oregon. In that career, my focus was entirely on building a strong therapeutic alliance—helping people set goals, navigate obstacles, and build better lives. I found that work deeply rewarding, and I bring that exact same spirit to financial planning today: patient, judgment-free, and entirely focused on the person behind the numbers.
Professionally, I specialize in the complex financial questions that equity compensation creates—such as RSUs, ESPPs, and ESOPs—along with the unique needs of self-employed and small business clients. If your pay includes company stock and you’re not sure what to do with it, that is exactly my corner.
I also write Cardinal Insights, a plain-English Substack newsletter featuring weekly market updates and a beginner-friendly financial education series to help you make smarter decisions.
Outside of my professional life, family is my central focus. After spending some rewarding time as a stay-at-home dad, my family and I relocated to McKinney, Texas, where I officially planted our roots and launched the firm.
When I am not helping clients build their financial futures, I love to coach and volunteer to support my son’s athletics whenever I can. If you're anywhere in Texas and ready to have a straightforward conversation about your future, I'd love to connect.

About Cardinal Wealth Management LLC
At Cardinal Wealth Management, we believe that knowledge and trust are the foundations of confident financial decisions. We are a fee-only, fiduciary financial planning firm based in McKinney, Texas, built specifically for wealth-builders who are ready to transition from questioning their cash flow to building lasting wealth. We operate under a strict fiduciary standard, which means we are legally and ethically bound to always put your interests first, offering planning-first guidance with no commissions, no hidden products, and no judgment.
Most people don't fall short because they lack income. They fall short because no one gave them a path. That is why we don't treat financial planning as a one-time transaction. Every client relationship we build follows The Cardinal Path™—a structured, five-phase process designed to grow alongside your life over time:
1. Discover: We start with your story, your concerns, and what financial success actually means to you through a zero-pressure conversation.
2. Clarify: We turn that baseline into a highly personalized blueprint spanning retirement projections, cash flow, and a written investment strategy built around your life.
3. Implement: A plan is just a document until it's put to work. We collaborate with you to take action on every single step until it is done.
4. Monitor: Life and markets evolve. We actively review and check in around the moments that matter, ensuring you always have direct access to your advisor, never a call center.
5. Evolve: As your wealth and life grow more complex, the value of a decades-long partnership grows right along with it.
We take great pride in our expertise with equity compensation, helping professionals and executives across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex make confident decisions regarding their RSUs, ESPPs, and ESOPs.
When you partner with us, you can always expect plain-English explanations instead of corporate jargon, written summaries after every meeting, proactive communication during volatile market events, and a guaranteed response within 24 hours. We are here to provide the clear roadmap and steady collaboration you need to handle life's financial decisions with total clarity.

We Want Your Voice to be Heard
Wealthtender exists to help people discover trusted and authentic financial professionals and educators who may be a good fit based on their unique needs and circumstances.
Your honest reviews help people decide which financial professionals and educators may be best suited to their individual needs.
The majority of people trust reviews as much as personal recommendations, so what you write in your review should reflect your own opinion and experience.
Tips for Writing a Helpful Review
Be descriptive. Instead of just saying what you like or dislike, share why. What have you enjoyed most or least about your experience with the provider? Have they helped you overcome a difficult financial challenge or strengthened your knowledge about particular money matters? The more details, the better!
Be honest. Your rating and review should reflect your actual experience.
Stay relevant. Ensure your review is helpful to others by avoiding off-topic discussions or personal opinions not relevant to your direct experience.
Make your review easy to read. Reviews should be readable to others. Use proper grammar, avoid excessive capitalization or punctuation, and be sure to check your spelling.
Be yourself. Don’t post as, or pretend to be, someone else, and do not say you’re associated with a person or organization with which you are not.
Be nice. Don’t write abusive, hateful, threatening, or harassing content. Avoid personal threats, hate speech, obscenities, or inflammatory language.
Respect the privacy of others. Don’t post information that can be used to identify another individual or compromise their privacy.
Report abuse. Thank you for helping us ensure reviews on Wealthtender are helpful to everyone. If you suspect possible violations of our guidelines or believe a review is inappropriate, please email support@wealthtender.com with a link to the provider’s profile, indicating the review in question and the reason you believe it violates our guidelines.
