About Edward C. Smith, CFP®, MBA
Hi, I'm Ed Smith, President and Founder of Valor Wealth Partners.Helping people with their financial goals is a deeply personal mission for me. Before becoming a financial consultant, my family and I went through a challenging estate transfer that taught me the importance of finding an advisor who puts clients’ needs first. This experience left a deep impression on me, and led me to pursue a meaningful career guiding people through the financial planning process.
With over 25 years of experience working with individuals and families, I am dedicated to fostering personal relationships with the clients that entrust me with their family's financial planning.
I began my career in financial services in 2000, working with firms including UBS PaineWebber, New England Securities, Financial Network Investment Corporation, LPL Financial, and CS Planning Corp before founding Valor Wealth Partners. I have focused our firm on serving mid-career and pre-retiree civilian federal employees, a group whose complex CSRS and FERS benefits are often poorly understood by traditional advisors.
I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and hold an MBA, and I follow the CFP Board's Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct in my work with clients. My core values of integrity and attention to detail were shaped by my earlier service in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Outside the office, I stay active in my community, including participating in the Pan-Mass Challenge charity cycling ride and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's marathon fundraising program, and I enjoy spending time with my family.

About Valor Wealth Partners
Valor Wealth Partners is a fee-only, fiduciary financial planning firm founded to bring a higher level of excellence to financial planning and investment management for people who weren't receiving it elsewhere.Who We Serve
We specialize in providing financial planning advice to mid-career and pre-retiree civilian federal employees. Focusing on federal employees allows us to understand the unique benefits, including FERS and CSRS considerations, that affect these families, and to help them avoid elections that could cost thousands of dollars over the course of retirement.
Our Services
We offer three programs to help clients on their path to financial success: an Initial Financial Plan to map out major goals and concerns, Ongoing Service to provide guidance and accountability as new financial obstacles arise, and optional Investment Management for clients who want to avoid the day-to-day hassles of managing their own portfolio.
Transparent Pricing
As a fee-only firm, we do not accept commissions from the sale of any investment, insurance, or banking products — our only compensation comes directly from our clients. Our pricing is structured as flat annual fees billed monthly, with investment management available for a low, transparent asset-based fee and no account minimums.
We are a veteran-owned business with our headquarters in Washington, D.C., serving clients virtually across the country.

We Want Your Voice to be Heard
Wealthtender exists to help people discover trusted and authentic financial professionals and educators who may be a good fit based on their unique needs and circumstances.
Your honest reviews help people decide which financial professionals and educators may be best suited to their individual needs.
The majority of people trust reviews as much as personal recommendations, so what you write in your review should reflect your own opinion and experience.
Tips for Writing a Helpful Review
Be descriptive. Instead of just saying what you like or dislike, share why. What have you enjoyed most or least about your experience with the provider? Have they helped you overcome a difficult financial challenge or strengthened your knowledge about particular money matters? The more details, the better!
Be honest. Your rating and review should reflect your actual experience.
Stay relevant. Ensure your review is helpful to others by avoiding off-topic discussions or personal opinions not relevant to your direct experience.
Make your review easy to read. Reviews should be readable to others. Use proper grammar, avoid excessive capitalization or punctuation, and be sure to check your spelling.
Be yourself. Don’t post as, or pretend to be, someone else, and do not say you’re associated with a person or organization with which you are not.
Be nice. Don’t write abusive, hateful, threatening, or harassing content. Avoid personal threats, hate speech, obscenities, or inflammatory language.
Respect the privacy of others. Don’t post information that can be used to identify another individual or compromise their privacy.
Report abuse. Thank you for helping us ensure reviews on Wealthtender are helpful to everyone. If you suspect possible violations of our guidelines or believe a review is inappropriate, please email support@wealthtender.com with a link to the provider’s profile, indicating the review in question and the reason you believe it violates our guidelines.
