About Marie Thomasson, CFP®
Hi, I’m Marie Thomasson, CFP®, a financial advisor with progressive values.I built Mothered to fix what wealth management gets wrong.
How it all started
I studied Applied Mathematics at UCLA, and an internship got me in the door as an analyst in mortgage-backed securities. That's where I watched the 2008 crisis unfold from the inside, and where a nine-year career took shape, overseeing over six billion dollars in bonds for pension funds, institutions, and banks.
The personal part
I'm a single mom of sixteen-year-old twin boys, and I've had to be scrappy all my life. I put myself through college. I'm learning to mother without a map to follow. And I'm raising boys in a world that already places them at the center, all while fighting for my own place in it, and to be proud of the people I've nurtured.
I've learned to rely on myself, to support myself. I know what it means to do the hard work, and I know I'm competent and capable. And still, sometimes what I wish for most is for someone else to take care of me, with the same care and attention I pay to others.
Someone I don't have to explain it to. Who doesn't need it spelled out on a checklist or tracked like one more task. The explaining is its own invisible work, and I've done enough of it. I want someone who just gets it.
That's why I built Mothered.

What to expect in the first meeting
The best place to start is a call. Our first call is a chance for you to tell me where you are and hear how I work. No pitch, no pressure, no paperwork. If we’re not the right fit, I’ll tell you. I’m based in El Segundo, in the greater Los Angeles area, and I work with women across the country. Wherever you are, let’s find a time.Offers Investment Management

About Mothered
At Mothered, we provide fee-only, fiduciary wealth management and financial planning designed specifically for women. We believe financial care should feel less like a boardroom and more like a lasagna in the oven: warm, unhurried, and made just for you.Our clients have carried families, careers, and demanding seasons of life, saving carefully along the way. When you partner with us, you no longer have to navigate your finances on your own—we sit at the table with you to handle it together.
As a registered investment advisor, we operate under a strict fiduciary standard, which means we never sell financial products, collect commissions, or answer to anyone other than our clients.
We start wherever you are today, openly naming what keeps you up at night, to build a financial plan tailored to your actual life rather than a rigid spreadsheet. Whether you choose full ongoing planning integrated with portfolio management or focused investment management built around your values and timeline, our work is completely judgment-free.
We approach wealth management without labels—whether you are a mother, daughter, wife, divorcée, widow, or single, we see the matriarch within you. Our goal is to provide holistic support through the lens of caregiving, ensuring you feel deeply resourced, organized, and free to truly enjoy the life you’ve worked so hard to build.

We Want Your Voice to be Heard
Wealthtender exists to help people discover trusted and authentic financial professionals and educators who may be a good fit based on their unique needs and circumstances.
Your honest reviews help people decide which financial professionals and educators may be best suited to their individual needs.
The majority of people trust reviews as much as personal recommendations, so what you write in your review should reflect your own opinion and experience.
Tips for Writing a Helpful Review
Be descriptive. Instead of just saying what you like or dislike, share why. What have you enjoyed most or least about your experience with the provider? Have they helped you overcome a difficult financial challenge or strengthened your knowledge about particular money matters? The more details, the better!
Be honest. Your rating and review should reflect your actual experience.
Stay relevant. Ensure your review is helpful to others by avoiding off-topic discussions or personal opinions not relevant to your direct experience.
Make your review easy to read. Reviews should be readable to others. Use proper grammar, avoid excessive capitalization or punctuation, and be sure to check your spelling.
Be yourself. Don’t post as, or pretend to be, someone else, and do not say you’re associated with a person or organization with which you are not.
Be nice. Don’t write abusive, hateful, threatening, or harassing content. Avoid personal threats, hate speech, obscenities, or inflammatory language.
Respect the privacy of others. Don’t post information that can be used to identify another individual or compromise their privacy.
Report abuse. Thank you for helping us ensure reviews on Wealthtender are helpful to everyone. If you suspect possible violations of our guidelines or believe a review is inappropriate, please email support@wealthtender.com with a link to the provider’s profile, indicating the review in question and the reason you believe it violates our guidelines.
