About Mitch Anderson, CFP®, MBA

Hi, I'm Mitch Anderson, an independent, fee-only financial planner and investment manager with a background in corporate finance and 401K management. I'm also an adjunct professor of Personal Finance at Williamson College.

After completing an MBA in Finance, I was fortunate enough to work with some of the best companies in the world, both public and private, including FedEx, Dell, and Asurion. Although my primary roles were in corporate finance, I discovered what I really loved was helping individuals navigate their personal financial journey, from setting financial goals to managing investment portfolios.

It was also during this time I realized how inefficient many corporate 401K plans were with high-fees and limited and/or low performing options. Since many these plans make up the largest component of their retirement plans, it is a mission to assist clients in saving money and improving investment options and education and thus helping them have better retirement outcomes.

So despite a promising career in corporate finance and after seeking much wise counsel, I decided to take a voluntary leap and become a Financial Planner. It is a joy and a privilege to help individuals and companies maximize their financial options, with a particular focus on "serving the servants" who make an impact in their career fields every day.

On a Personal Note

I grew up in a rural farming community outside of Memphis, Tennessee. My first job was picking tomatoes, which motivated me to attend college. I met my beautiful wife in college at the University of Tennessee, where I studied biomedical engineering and earned an MBA in finance and management.

After five years of partying and not saving or investing a dime, I suddenly realized that I should probably sign up for my company’s 401(k) plan when our first daughter was born. This journey of early suboptimal decisions led me to become passionate about financial planning. Our company now advises on 15 corporate 401(k) plans.

I live outside of Nashville in beautiful Franklin, Tennessee, with my wife and three children. They keep me busy and living life to the fullest, and sometimes involuntarily! I serve as chairman of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) Educational Committee. I also serve on the board of the STARS youth organization, the Partnership Council for the Refuge Center for Counseling, and several ministries important to us through our church.

I also periodically serve as an adjunct professor of personal finance at Williamson College. I enjoy helping to educate the future generation on something as critical as financial planning and investment management. I am just as likely to give a C as an A.

Having said all that, there’s no place I’d rather be than on my boat in the middle of the lake at sunset. That’s usually where you can find me when the weather is warm! I love the outdoors, and my towering strength is flinging kids off inner tubes at the lake without generating lawsuits.

If you visit Nashville, please look me up. I would love to connect!
