About Me

Hi, I'm Scott Boyles. I provide fee-only financial advice to business owners, executives, and successful families with an independent and objective point of view.

I use my experiences both personally and professionally to help my clients create the future they want to see for themselves. I work with a wide array of great clients in various stages of their lives. It’s very rewarding for me to help people achieve their dreams, along with my own. As Chief Operating Officer I’m in the position of helping build Brightscape into a national financial firm.

I always wanted to help people and felt the best direction to utilize my financial skills was Personal Finance. I think it comes from my Mother. Being a nurse, she’s strong and analytical but is also an artist. I work with numbers every day, but I am able to challenge the creative side of my brain, which comes from her, I think. I interviewed several firms and found one that was brand new - Brightscape. Brightscape was founded on the belief of putting the client first and in the best possible position for financial success. I was the first person to join and since that time a lot of opportunities have unfolded for both the company and for me.

My wife started her career in NYC in the fashion industry but after relocating to Dallas was laid off in 2008. There wasn’t much opportunity in Dallas fashion at that time, and being independently minded, we discussed opening a business. We founded Gameday Cloth, a boutique for the stylish sports fan. It combined our love of sports and her passion and knowledge in the fashion world. We have season tickets to our alma mater Southern Methodist University (SMU) and she could never find what she wanted to wear at the bookstores and existing sports stores. Opening a business with your significant other can be one of the most difficult, if not THE most difficult things; yet, it was also one of the most rewarding decisions ever. We both learned a lot about ourselves, business, and made lifelong relationships with people we met along the way. The business morphed with trends and grew over the years. My wife ran the business for several years and we made the difficult decision to close in 2017.

When I'm not at work, you'll probably find me at an SMU game, supporting local businesses, or attempting to fix my golf slice on the driver.

About our Firm

Integrity, Transparency, Objectivity

In the late 1990s, large financial firms, more often than not, were not putting the clients’ interests first. Eric Weiss, Brightscape’s founder, worked at one such institution. He felt a firm should provide unbiased and objective advice. Selling proprietary or preselected lists of paid-for products wasn’t fair to the client. Weiss believed a firm should provide unbiased and objective advice based on the individual client’s best interest. He wanted to combine his experience and ethical standards to create something new; thus, Brightscape was born.

Brightscape started out and still is at the forefront of what it means to be a fiduciary. The name itself exemplifies a bright future. Every member of the Brightscape team focuses on putting the clients’ interests first.
