About Me

Hi, I'm Todd Porterfield, CFP®, RICP®. I grew up on a ranch in the shadow of Mt. Shasta in northern California. Each year, as a part of the 4-H program I raised a steer and brought it to the county fair for auction and the money from the sale helped pay for college—and a new saddle.

Key Moments: Leaving the Big Money wealth management firms behind. The Big Money firm was not about planning or helping people it was about generating revenue for the firm. There was a better way.

Becoming A Financial Planner: A self-proclaimed financial “nerd”, the planning procession satisfies my analytical mindset, and it is thoroughly rewarding to work directly with families to help them reach financial independence. My cousin, Jill Porterfield CPA, has joined me at Fairchild Capital and we soon realized we could do even more for our clients by combining our unique perspectives and complementary skill sets.

My “Why”: Everyone has a different path with their lives and money. Some are so passionate about their profession they may slow down but never stop. Others are ready to transition as soon as possible. I am energized by these stories and helping families make the best financial decisions.

⭐ Best Retreat: Porterfield Ranch, Dorris, CA Always good to visit your roots.

⭐ Greatest Adventure: Scuba Diving with lemon sharks in Bora Bora.

⭐ Favorite Book: Catch 22 by Joseph Heller

⭐ Can’t be interrupted when: The Beavs are playing

⭐ Favorite lunch: 808 Grinds Food Cart, kalua pig is darn good

Retirement Planning For Individuals Over Age 50

Any Of These Sound Familiar?
❗You are excited about retirement and want to “recreate your paycheck”
❗But the idea of managing your portfolio doesn’t excite you
❗You want the help of an experienced financial professional
❗And hope to find someone trustworthy who will give you 1-1 attention
❗You don’t want to jump through hoops to get your money questions answered

If So, You’re In The Right Place, Because…
✔️ We can show you how to “recreate your paycheck” in retirement
✔️ We take a comprehensive look at your finances to help you decide when to retire
✔️ We help you make the most of your retirement income, so you never run out of money
✔️ We manage your portfolio for you, so you don’t have to worry about it
✔️ We’re fiduciaries, so we NEVER push products
✔️ Our clients can easily reach us, so you can turn to us when you want help.

The “Old-Fashioned” Reason Todd Porterfield Started Fairchild Capital: Our founder & CEO, Todd Porterfield, used to work at a big financial firm. His favorite part of the job was working 1-on-1 with his clients. After some corporate policy changes, Todd wasn’t able to help clients with their retirement planning like he wanted to. So he left the corporate world and started his own retirement planning firm.
Todd founded Fairchild Capital in 2014 and hasn’t looked back. It might sound old-fashioned, but Fairchild Capital was founded on the belief that, in business:

Relationships Are The Most Important Thing You Can Have.

We work with a small number of clients, so we can develop meaningful relationships with all of them and provide the highest service possible. So if you’re ready for a financial planner who puts YOUR interests first… You’re in the right place.

How We Help You Navigate Your Retirement Journey:
✅ Steady Retirement Income: The scariest part of retirement is wondering whether you’ll actually be able to “recreate the paycheck.” We’ll show you how to do it.

✅ Comprehensive Retirement Planning: A customized, realistic plan is the foundation of a stress-free retirement. We’ll work with you to develop your unique plan and put it into action.

✅ Stress-Free Investment Management: We work with every client to develop a portfolio that makes sense for their goals. (And we handle it all, so you don’t have to worry.)

✅ Smart(Er) Tax Planning: Everyone has to pay taxes, but you shouldn’t have to pay more than you owe. We’ll help you keep your taxes as small as (legally) possible.

✅ Reduce The Risk Of Running Out Of Money: Let us coordinate different sources of income to save on taxes and reduce the risk of running out of money during retirement.
