About Joe Forish, CFA, CFP®
If you're a founder or tech employee with a meaningful amount of your wealth tied to company stock, the decisions can get complicated quickly. When should you exercise your options? How much AMT could that create? What should you do with vested RSUs? How much company stock is too much? And if an IPO, tender offer, or other liquidity event is on the horizon, what should you be doing now to prepare?
You shouldn't have to figure all of that out on your own.
I'm Joe Forish, Founder of Fortrove Partners. I built Fortrove to help founders and tech employees make thoughtful decisions about their equity compensation and understand how those decisions fit into the rest of their financial lives.
We work almost exclusively with equity-compensated technologists. That means spending time in the details—reviewing option agreements, RSU grants, 409A valuations, vesting schedules, and tax implications—then turning all of that complexity into a clear plan.
Whether you're deciding when to exercise ISOs, preparing for a tender offer or IPO, managing a concentrated stock position, or simply wondering what you should be doing with your equity, the goal is the same: help you understand your options, make informed decisions, and feel confident about the path forward.
Fortrove is a fee-only fiduciary, so the advice is built around what's best for you.
My approach to client service started long before Fortrove. Growing up in my family's small business taught me what it means to take care of people and how personal the decisions around a business can become. Before founding Fortrove, I invested in public and private equity markets, experience that now informs the work I do with clients whose wealth is often concentrated in a single company.
I hold a B.S. in Finance and International Business from Pennsylvania State University and completed the Harvard Business Analytics Program with Distinction.
If your equity has become an increasingly important—and increasingly complicated—part of your financial life, let's talk. You don't need to have all the answers or even know exactly what questions to ask. That's what the first conversation is for.
When I'm not working with clients, you'll usually find me on a tree-lined ski run or longboarding when it's glassy and cloudy. I live in New York City with my wife, Linda.

About Fortrove Partners
Fortrove Partners is a fee-only, fiduciary financial planning firm based in New York City that specializes in equity compensation planning for tech employees and founders.Who We Serve
We work with technologists holding RSUs, stock options (ISOs and NSOs), restricted stock awards, ESPPs, and other forms of equity-ownership complexity, as well as founders and entrepreneurs anticipating an acquisition, IPO, or other liquidity event. Our typical clients are established households, usually 25–45 years old, building wealth deliberately and ready for a long-term partnership.
Our Services
We help clients model stock option exercise scenarios, understand the alternative minimum tax implications of ISO exercises, and build multi-year strategies designed to optimize their after-tax outcome. We build one clear roadmap connecting cash flow, goals, and equity vesting timelines to the decisions that follow, and we coordinate exercises, elections, diversification, and tax moves with each client's CPA every year.
Transparent Pricing
Our full-service relationship is available for an annual retainer that includes management of a client's first $500,000 in assets, with a tiered percentage fee schedule applying above that threshold. We generate revenue only from client fees — no commissions, no products, and no other forms of compensation.

Tips for Writing a Helpful Review
Be descriptive. Instead of just saying what you like or dislike, share why. What have you enjoyed most or least about your experience with the provider? Have they helped you overcome a difficult financial challenge or strengthened your knowledge about particular money matters? The more details, the better!
Be honest. Your rating and review should reflect your actual experience.
Stay relevant. Ensure your review is helpful to others by avoiding off-topic discussions or personal opinions not relevant to your direct experience.
Make your review easy to read. Reviews should be readable to others. Use proper grammar, avoid excessive capitalization or punctuation, and be sure to check your spelling.
Be yourself. Don’t post as, or pretend to be, someone else, and do not say you’re associated with a person or organization with which you are not.
Be nice. Don’t write abusive, hateful, threatening, or harassing content. Avoid personal threats, hate speech, obscenities, or inflammatory language.
Respect the privacy of others. Don’t post information that can be used to identify another individual or compromise their privacy.
Report abuse. Thank you for helping us ensure reviews on Wealthtender are helpful to everyone. If you suspect possible violations of our guidelines or believe a review is inappropriate, please email support@wealthtender.com with a link to the provider’s profile, indicating the review in question and the reason you believe it violates our guidelines.
