About Matt Smith, CFA®, CFP®
Hi, I’m Matt Smith. I founded Concert Financial Planning to solve a specific problem I saw throughout my 14 years in the investment industry: high-achieving professionals—particularly BigLaw attorneys—were being ignored by the traditional financial planning model because they weren't "old enough" or "retired yet."My perspective is both professional and personal. Professionally, I spent over a decade working with thousands of financial advisors, educating them on complex portfolio construction and industry best practices. I hold both the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designations—a combination held by a very small percentage of advisors, ensuring your plan is built with both technical rigor and holistic care.
Personally, I am married to a BigLaw Partner. I’ve been by her side since she was a 2nd-year Associate, watching the late nights, the sacrifices, and the high-stakes transition from Associate to Partner. I understand the "BigLaw lifestyle" isn't just a job; it’s a unique financial ecosystem of high student debt, compressed timelines, and complex tax hurdles. I’ve dedicated my career to helping attorneys like you navigate that path so you can focus on your practice and your family, knowing your financial "backstage" is handled.

About Concert Financial Planning
Concert Financial Planning is a flat-fee, fiduciary firm purpose-built for BigLaw attorneys. We don’t believe you should have to wait until retirement to get expert financial advice. In fact, the decisions you make as a mid-level or senior associate are often the most critical for your long-term wealth. We act as your "Tour Manager," organizing the chaos of a high-income career into a clear, manageable framework. Our service model is specifically aligned with the legal career trajectory, providing specialized guidance on:
- The Associate-to-Partner Transition: Navigating the "capital contribution" requirements and the shift from W-2 employee to K-1 partner.
- Tax Mitigation: Implementing advanced strategies to keep more of your high-earning income.
- Student Loan Optimization: Balancing aggressive repayment with the desire to buy a home or invest for the future.
- Custom Planning Tools: We use proprietary tools designed for builders (non-retirees) rather than the standard "retirement calculators" most firms use.
Our firm is designed for the attorney who is smart enough to "do it themselves" but wise enough to know their time is better spent on their career, their family, and their interests. We operate with a transparent fee structure—no commissions, no product sales, and a relentless focus on your best interests.

We Want Your Voice to be Heard
Wealthtender exists to help people discover trusted and authentic financial professionals and educators who may be a good fit based on their unique needs and circumstances.
Your honest reviews help people decide which financial professionals and educators may be best suited to their individual needs.
The majority of people trust reviews as much as personal recommendations, so what you write in your review should reflect your own opinion and experience.
Tips for Writing a Helpful Review
Be descriptive. Instead of just saying what you like or dislike, share why. What have you enjoyed most or least about your experience with the provider? Have they helped you overcome a difficult financial challenge or strengthened your knowledge about particular money matters? The more details, the better!
Be honest. Your rating and review should reflect your actual experience.
Stay relevant. Ensure your review is helpful to others by avoiding off-topic discussions or personal opinions not relevant to your direct experience.
Make your review easy to read. Reviews should be readable to others. Use proper grammar, avoid excessive capitalization or punctuation, and be sure to check your spelling.
Be yourself. Don’t post as, or pretend to be, someone else, and do not say you’re associated with a person or organization with which you are not.
Be nice. Don’t write abusive, hateful, threatening, or harassing content. Avoid personal threats, hate speech, obscenities, or inflammatory language.
Respect the privacy of others. Don’t post information that can be used to identify another individual or compromise their privacy.
Report abuse. Thank you for helping us ensure reviews on Wealthtender are helpful to everyone. If you suspect possible violations of our guidelines or believe a review is inappropriate, please email support@wealthtender.com with a link to the provider’s profile, indicating the review in question and the reason you believe it violates our guidelines.
