About Mike Hunsberger, ChFC®, CFP®, CCFC
Hi, I’m Mike Hunsberger, the Founder and Owner of Next Mission Financial Planning. I loved my 25-years in the Air Force but wanted to do something different when I retired. I’ve always enjoyed financial planning for myself as well as for friends and family. I help clients build the life they want by balancing living today with building wealth for the future. Gradually increasing savings rates and staying invested over the long term is the best way I found to do that.I’m going to date myself, but I still remember being excited about having a little passbook savings account at our local bank through a program at school. We’d bring in our money in an envelope each week to deposit at the bank. I was amazed that the bank was going to give me more money just for doing that. This was back in the 80s when you could actually earn interest income. I was hooked.
Part of my learning curve was purchasing insurance and very high-fee mutual funds sold by a company that focuses on military personnel and who I believed had my best interest in mind. This is part of the reason I want to help military families… I don’t want them to make the same mistakes. I desire to educate you about your options, provide advice that is always in your best interest without having to sell specific products.
I help clients build out the vision of their best life and values. We then put together a plan for how to realize their goals. We do this by ensuring that all the pieces of your financial life are integrated. That includes cash flow, debt management, investing, insurance, taxes, as well as retirement, education, and estate planning. Making the plan is only the first step. To achieve your dreams, we’ll continue to work together to implement the recommendations, monitor your progress, and make any changes necessary to keep you dreams on track.
I’ll be excited to talk with you to see if we would be a fit and work together to achieve your Next Mission.

✅ College Funding: You've saved and prepared for college, but how do you ensure you're getting the best value for your money? We help you find schools that won't break the bank.
Next Mission Financial Planning was founded in 2021 to provide comprehensive, values-based financial planning and investment management services for senior military and military retirees.
Our foundational principle is we will always act in your best interest when giving you our recommendations. In financial planning jargon that means we act as a fiduciary.
We’ve found the best way to implement that is as a fee-only firm. As such, we are paid only by you, our clients, and not for selling financial products or making specific recommendations.
Your next mission is too important to do anything else.

We Want Your Voice to be Heard
Wealthtender exists to help people discover trusted and authentic financial professionals and educators who may be a good fit based on their unique needs and circumstances.
Your honest reviews help people decide which financial professionals and educators may be best suited to their individual needs.
The majority of people trust reviews as much as personal recommendations, so what you write in your review should reflect your own opinion and experience.
Tips for Writing a Helpful Review
Be descriptive. Instead of just saying what you like or dislike, share why. What have you enjoyed most or least about your experience with the provider? Have they helped you overcome a difficult financial challenge or strengthened your knowledge about particular money matters? The more details, the better!
Be honest. Your rating and review should reflect your actual experience.
Stay relevant. Ensure your review is helpful to others by avoiding off-topic discussions or personal opinions not relevant to your direct experience.
Make your review easy to read. Reviews should be readable to others. Use proper grammar, avoid excessive capitalization or punctuation, and be sure to check your spelling.
Be yourself. Don’t post as, or pretend to be, someone else, and do not say you’re associated with a person or organization with which you are not.
Be nice. Don’t write abusive, hateful, threatening, or harassing content. Avoid personal threats, hate speech, obscenities, or inflammatory language.
Respect the privacy of others. Don’t post information that can be used to identify another individual or compromise their privacy.
Report abuse. Thank you for helping us ensure reviews on Wealthtender are helpful to everyone. If you suspect possible violations of our guidelines or believe a review is inappropriate, please email support@wealthtender.com with a link to the provider’s profile, indicating the review in question and the reason you believe it violates our guidelines.
