About Terry Scipio, CLU®
Terry D. Scipio II, grew up in Columbia, SC and the third oldest of ten siblings. Being from humble beginnings, he started his entrepreneur career at age 10 going to local neighbors in the community asking to cut their grass or rake their yards. He used this grit and hard work ethic to earn a football scholarship to play college football at Newberry College, he’d later transfer and walk-on to play for legendary head coach, Lou Holtz at the University of South Carolina…Go Gamecoks!Mr. Scipio earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance from the Moore School of Business c/o 2005 in Columbia, SC and currently holds the Series 6, 7, 63, 65, licenses and has a South Carolina Insurance Life & Health License (resident) and non-resident licenses in several states. He is an avid football fan and is a recreational golfer, who likes to read and help clients meet their financial goals. Mr. Scipio is also a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Mr. Scipio is the proud son of the late Sonya Hodges-Grantham (a nationally recognized historian & author) and Terry D. Scipio Sr. He’s married to Alexis Scipio, his wife of 12 years and from their covenant they have, four beautiful, talented children Aubrey, Ty, Taylor and Arrington (twins).

Chartered Market Technician Level 1
A Chartered Market Technician (CMT®) is a professional technical analyst that holds the CMT designation organized by the CMT Association (formerly the MTA), a global credentialing body with nearly 50 years of service to the financial industry. The CMT marks the highest level of training within the discipline and is the preeminent designation for practitioners worldwide.
Technical analysis provides the tools to successfully navigate the gap between intrinsic value and market price across all asset classes through a disciplined, systematic approach to market behavior and the law of supply and demand. Earning the CMT designation demonstrates that you have mastery of a core body of knowledge of investment risk in portfolio management, including quantitative approaches to market research and rules-based trading system design and testing.
To be granted a Chartered Market Technician (CMT®) designation, a candidate must pass three examination levels, complete the membership application process, and agree to the CMT Association’s code of ethics.

Why We Care
Planning today is much different than it was 30 years ago. In the past our parents and grandparents could count on a generous pension, 401k, and social security to help them get through retirement.
Today, however professionals face a unique set of circumstances. Often times they may be the first generation to complete college; therefore, having to provide for not only themselves but also for other family members.
In addition, most Millennials are considered to be part of the ‘Sandwich Generation’ – responsible for raising a family and providing financial support for aging parents. These dynamics present a unique set of circumstances; which is what drives me to be that resource my clients can depend on.

My wife and I met with Terry for a consultation regarding our state retirement plans. As teachers, we are able to educate the next generation but we are not well versed at navigating the world of retirement and long term savings.
During our consultation, we learned that while he does not have personal experience with the the retirement options for teachers, he has family who has been a teacher and he has seen first hand how little financial education is provided to teachers as they enter the workforce and the lack of education provided to teachers when it comes to planning their retirement.
In our time with him, we gain valuable knowledge regarding our current retirement plans, insight into ways we need to look into building our retirement and ways we can better plan for the future.
We inquired about what his services were and his prices. He quoted us a very fair and reasonable offer to sit down with us to create a financial map. Additionally, he showed us the programs and documents that he would use with us and they are very easy to follow and understand.
Terry is a financial expert that treats his clients and future clients with a very high level of respect, provides a relaxed environment and avoids the expert language; putting it on a level that you can easily understand and follow.

I have been working with Terry for the last two years. Terry is responsible for my retirement planning and he also gives me greater advice when it comes to my financial goals. As I was able to work towards personal savings and getting out of consumer debt, Terry was able to help me with stock market investments, with our quarterly meetings, we were able to discuss any changes in the market and he explains to me in words I can understand where I would be in 30 years when I am ready to retire. I am very comfortable speaking with Terry more as a friend than an advisor due to his very laid-back personality and honest Way of speaking. With Terry over my retirement goals, I’m not so concerned as to where I’ll be when it’s time for me to slow down and retire. I would definitely recommend him to all my friends and family, especially in this day where the future is uncertain. Investing and having someone who looks over your money is scary, but with his knowledge and experience, I have no concerns or doubt when I’m working with Terry.
